On November 27, 2020, the China Equipment Manufacturing Industry Development Forum (2020) and the launch ceremony of the "China Equipment Manufacturing Industry Development Report" Blue Book, hosted by the Institute of Economics and Management of Machinery Industry, and supported by Tsinghua University Tianjin High-end Equipment Research Institute, China Productivity Promotion Center Association, Professional Committee of Big Data Service for Scientific and Technological Achievements, and "Smart China" Magazine, was grandly held in Beijing.

　　At this forum, the Institute of Economics and Management of Machinery Industry released the "Equipment Manufacturing Industry Blue Book" and the "China Equipment Manufacturing Industry Business Climate Index." The report shows that since 2019, China's equipment manufacturing industry has been operating under pressure. In 2019, the added value of China's equipment manufacturing industry grew by 6.7%, with a slowdown in growth for two consecutive years, and weak fixed asset investment; the growth rate of economic benefits slowed down, with the operating income of China's equipment manufacturing industry increasing by only 0.65% year-on-year in 2019, a slowdown for two consecutive years, and total profits decreasing by 3.13% year-on-year; various industries showed a differentiated trend, especially a significant decline in the automotive industry; foreign trade generally showed a steady recovery, with China's exports of electromechanical products increasing by 4.4% year-on-year, and the export value in RMB exceeding 10 trillion yuan. In 2020, especially since the third quarter, the economic indicators of China's equipment manufacturing industry have stabilized significantly. In October, the added value of the equipment manufacturing industry increased by 10.8% year-on-year, 3.9 percentage points faster than that of large-scale industries above the designated size, maintaining double-digit growth for four consecutive months, and the production of major products continued to recover, highlighting its role in driving the growth of industrial production.

　　According to the "China Equipment Manufacturing Industry Business Climate Index" released by the Institute of Economics and Management of Machinery Industry, in the short term, the consistency indicators of the economic operation of China's equipment manufacturing industry have shown signs of recovery, and the business climate has entered a new round of short-term upward cycle, with the economic operation showing a steady and positive trend; however, based on the trend of leading indicators, the probability of entering the cyclical contraction phase starting in 2021 is increasing; in the long term, China's economy is positive in the long run, bringing new opportunities for structural adjustment and transformation and upgrading of the equipment manufacturing industry.
